Hello Everyone!
I've just bought a Rover 9/20 tourer and joined the RSR.
Here's some photos of the car. https://goo.gl/photos/UYpZGqr8BAKzeNbK7
Can people please point me in the right direction for the correct engine oil, gear oil and grease? What's the modern equivalent of Rover No 10 Oil? I have the instructions for upkeep and management but was wondering if the club had any additional information.

Re: Rover 9/20 DP7764
Hello John,
Apologies for the late reply and welcome to the forum. As far as I know, Duckhams were a preferred supplier of oils to the Rover Company and they certainly produced no8 oil for the air cooled Rover 8 and no 12 for the Clegg 12hp cars of the early 20s. As regards the specification for e No 10 oil, I suspect it is ptobably an EP 90 that is friendly to the bronze bearings in gearboxes and rear axles. Rover water cooled oil is probably a straight SAE30 engine oil and I suspect the grease is a high melting point grease like Castrol LM.
You might try Classic oils at Bicester Heritage (Guy Chapman) for further information.
Hope this helps

John,
You have done very well there, especially in the completeness of the car! Mine is still a work in progress - see

Havent seen another 9 yet with the same windscreen as mine anywhere, and still hunting for correct looking taillights .
I have a wiring diagram and a parts book in digital form if you need them, as well as the maintenance book - could email them.
A 10V battery seems odd. After a bit of cleaning of the cut out points I got mine to generate plenty of Amps - 8-10 easily. Starts fine on the starter also, but previous owner had everything overhauled.

John,
Any chance you can add some pics of the inside of your hood please - I have no hood as such, and very little of the ironwork on mine, and need help to see what it looks like and how it works.
thanks
