I have taken it from the other carb temporarily (and the ball and spring) but I want them both to be complete and usable. Is that too greedy? If I decided to sell the spare then the purchaser would almost certainly expect completeness

Re: Solex Carburrettor 30FFA1
Hi Richard Your comment about the mounting flange made me stop and go back and look. Its true that the top of the mounting flange looks distorted in the photo but in fact I bought this carb as refurbished and it appears as though the mating face has been planed down to flat and so that isnt the prob...

Re: Re-wiring
Hi David I have to say that my rewiring took a lot more than one day! Admittedly I did not dismantle the car at all except for removing the dash, I was single-handed and a novice but it took me any number of days (OK not full days). I had certainly spent many more days drawing up diagrams of the wir...

Boot handle locks
Could anyone help in identifying these 2 boot handle locks which I dug out from my spares? They dont match my '39 14 nor apparently a 38 sportsman saloon. I wondered if the single handed one was from a tourer? They are marked as follows: single handed one shows 'FM558/3' double handed one shows 'H47...

Re: Travels in a Tourer
Back in July I was greatly encouraged by David's report of his succesful european tour when I was struggling to get my DHC fit for travelling on holiday. I had to spend a lot of time but I got there - just. The new rocker cover gasket arrived broken in 5 places. The new drip tray arrived just before...

Re: Petrol Tank sender unit
This sender type is available from Holden and maybe others. It is quite easy to change the float if you wish to keep the metal one (new ones are plastic). You may find that only one side of the yoke is connected on the new unit but it doesn't seem to matter. There are two types listed- one for top a...

Re: Solex Carburrettor 30FFA1
Hi Luli I have been looking long and hard at the photos of the bi-starter disc etc and concluded that I cant reverse the disc because the holes would be in the wrong sequence. My thinking is this: the the large rrounded rectangular hole is the air vent. Opposite this on the disc is a medium size rou...

Hi Luli
Sorry I have only just seen your other response about the gasket- I think it must have been delayed somehow
