Re: SU Downdraft carburettor in place of Solex
Great memories Tony, just the way it used to be!! As I understand the principle, the only point of contact between the piston in an SU carburettor and the body should be between the inner face of the inner tube on the body and the outer face of the piston tube. There shouldn't be any contact between...

Re: SU Downdraft carburettor in place of Solex
I'm writing this just as a statement of how I've found these carburettors. Someone else will have a different experience but this has been mine. Firstly, the only oil in the Rover SUs should be a little lubrication through the top oiler on the piston body. I've been trying Marvel air tool oil becaus...

I think the glove compartment cover is correct for a 14. The 10 doesn't have a cover , I'd need to check more carefully about the 12 but the 14 definitely does, presumably one of the items to warrant the higher price.

Re: Ignition Leads
I've never had a reason to look beyond copper cable like this : https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/100/category/22 The problem with some newer plug ends can be that they are too large to fit under the ignition lead/distributor cover. Although screw on brass terminals will fit if carefull...

Re: KGF210
When cars were returned to the road in the late 1970s/early 80s, the DVLA didn't exist. You went to your local licensing office which was in your local town, not even an "area", and gave them an old tax disc of the vehicle you wanted to return to the road and they registered it as of that date with ...

Re: 1934 Rover 12 SU carb rebuild
I saw this post and remembered it was identical to the problem I had with my 1937 10. The levers just didn't appear to have any way of meeting up to carry out their intended function. I should say that I've had a lot of different cars with similar arrangements which usually have an obvious solution ...
