Re: Rotary Retro Automobile Fellowship

A wise move in view of the higher burning temperature of unleaded, methanol-rich fuel: depending on the weather, you could have been in trouble without the vents. During our foray into the continent for the 10th anniversary of the Belgian Rover Club in 1991, the weather was so hot I was forced to re...

Re: Rotary Retro Automobile Fellowship

A good selection of cars there, Rob, with your Tickford looking very smart with those chromed wheel discs. Your 14 has vents on the bonnet side-panels. I may well be wrong about this, but I understood that these were a feature of the 16 and 20 models only on account of the larger engines' tendency t...

Re: P2 headlamp pattern

Let's hope (though I'm not holding my breath) that this is the kind of Brussels-inspired nonsense that Brexit will finally do away with.

Re: Tickford Hood Straps

Rob, I have photographed the items you have inquired about- the bag for the cantrail end and the cover for the folded cantrails and hoop stick in the de ville position. There's also a photo of the turnbuckles needed to take the weight of the rolled front section wthh header rail when the hood is in ...

Re: Tickford Hood Straps

After taking advice from my in-house IT consultant, I've photographed the 6 stages of the Tickford hood operation directions in two images.
Send your email address to me at flx797@hotmail.co.uk and I'll email them to you.

Re: Tickford Hood Straps

Salmons and Sons issued "Directions for operating head on Tickford Foursome Coupe" (their name for the drophead) to all purchasers of the cars. It describes 6 stages of operation in detail with large illustrations. My copy is A3 sized, and right now I don't know how to scan something that large. I'l...

Re: P2 headlamp pattern

LED headlamp bulbs produce a light so brilliant that considerations of wattage become irrelevant. The 48W bulb in my central pass lamp appears feeble in comparison. The current drain of LEDs is so small that you could probably run several sets of LED headlights on the current required for one set of...

Re: P2 headlamp pattern

They dip in the same way as dual-filament incandescent and halogen bulbs dip. I had no polarity issues whatever with the ones I bought from Classic Dynamo and Regulator Conversions: www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com At around £25 each they're expensive, yes, but when you consider that this is a vit...

Re: P2 headlamp pattern

The easy way to avoid a great deal of headlight angst is to fit LED bulbs straight into the Lucas bulbholders. The light is amazingly bright- puts halogens in the shade- and the bulbs produce hardly a deflection of the ammeter needle. The other bonus is that you will no longer be dazzled by the onco...

Re: What modern oils and greases do I use ?

The oil seals in our steering boxes are prone to leakage and it's a heck of a lot of work to get the assembly out of the car to renew them. The simple modern remedy is to fill the box with Penrite Steering Box Lube. This provides excellent lubrication and stops the leaks. Almost 30 years ago I found...
