Re: P2 tourer at Brightwells

After 67 bids the car comfortably exceeded the estimate, 5000-8000, and sold for 10.200, not a huge amount but encouraging to see that it was one of the very few cars that exceeded the higher estimate. As projects go it wouldn't be too much work to have serviceable vehicle but to get it to a high st...

P2 tourer at Brightwells

Brightwells have a P2 tourer (AJV14) coming up for sale at their next classic motoring sale, sale is from Saturday the 23rd to Wednesday the 27th of March. The guide price seems very low, 5,000 to 8,000 but it does need a bit of TLC by the look of things, I will be going to have a look on the viewin...

Re: Timing, points gap etc.

Thank you both for the replies, I have filed the points flat, set the timing, set the gap to 12thou., set the mixture and fitted an inline fuel filter, now running beautifully. However the float in the tank will need a bit of encouragement to get moving and the mileometer has stopped working. One da...

Timing, points gap etc.

Good afternoon all, I have just started increasing my knowledge of my P1 12 tourer again, clean tank, fit fuel filter, clean carb and such. I have recently acquired a multi meter that also incorporates a dwell meter, now as far as I can find out the dwell angle on a 4 cyl. tourer should be 45degrees...

Re: Suspension setup

The 18" 450/500 are out of stock, should be available mid April, I have reserved 5 and will get them fitted by them, I did look at the 550's they have but I think they are a bit too wide and the steering components would get too much strain exerted on them.

Re: Suspension setup

Hi David, thank you for the suggestion, I have now reset the suspension units, when they came off the car one had a drop of 9 seconds, one of the adjustment screws was not in it's locking clips and was completely loose, the other side 83 seconds, the oil was very thick and black, with clean oil and ...

Re: Suspension setup

I only had a 10Lb weight available, and it was just to have a starting point, I have now cleaned the unit and filled it with fresh oil, testing it again with a 20Lb weight after adjusting, it now drops to the mark in 14 seconds, I assume the T 12 is the time taken (i.e. 12 seconds)with an 8 inch bar...

Suspension setup

I have started doing some maintenance on the rear axle of my Rover 12 Tourer, the n/s axle seal was leaking and has contaminated the brake pads. Whilst I had the whole lot exposed I removed the Luvax suspension unit to change the bushes, I want to change the oil in the unit and set it up correctly. ...

Re: P1 Tourer Info

According to Howard Jones's Rover Tourer book your car does seem to be lost, it was chassis number 412181, first registered in 1934, it was sold in1953 to a lt. commander P A Holden. The colour is not known if you remember the colour can you let us know so the info can get back to Howard Jones to up...

Re: Rover 16 Gearbox Repairs

Birch motors in Liverpool specialise in Range rover gearbox rebuilds, they might know someone local who will tackle a manual box.
