Ive persuaded the owner to take the car ,back to the garage he used to use At least they have the equipement and tools for the job.However,it will be very interesting to know the cause Len

Thanks Luli I think it has to come to this point I have my own car which I bought last week to give me something to do I also am having treatment for cancer,so I don`t want the worry of someone else`s problems and finally I have a house which always needs work on it

Morning the compression on number 1 cyl is zero The owner has a metal head gasket which he had bought already Someone suggested that the cam may be the problem,but I can`t see how a faulty or rather worn cam ,could move the valve so it contacted the piston. Thank for the information from Luli it seems the timing chain,seldom jumps a cog .My friend said that as soon as he started the engine,after he fitted the rebuilt head it sounded rough and he stopped it and found two push rods slightly bent .My next jobe when I have time and I dont have to look afte...
