Starter Motor

I have one that is playing up (not engaging) & it appears that the "clutch" (pinion & sleeve 255672 / sleeve & rubber 290081 may be the culprits. It whirrs strongly & tries to engage, but mostly doesn't!
I have the starter off, but have not stripped it, The motor is a later (1950) one...possibly a Lucas rebuild? It has Phillips recess csk screws holding the coils in place, not slotted csk!
Can anyone recommend a reliable supplier or rebuilder? in the midlands?
Starters are available from Land-Rover "specialists" at eye watering prices!

Yes lots of the rubber bendix around. I will take the starter apart & see what I find....what can possibly go wrong
