Presenting myself as a new member from abroad - Costa Brava, Spain.
I have been restoring a P4 for the last 3 or four years- no hurry. A legacy from somebody who brought to Spain from U.K. and had it parked for ten years.
All I am missing is new tires, but I can't find an equivalence for the original 6.40*15, and the shops around here just look at me blankly.

Hi Paul, Welcome to the forum, most P4 owners have changed to radial tyres as they give a better all round driving experience.

Whlist you can still buy brand new X plies they are not long lasting or safe on moder rodas. The radial equivalent is 185SR x 15 4 ply (avoid 8 ply Van tyres) at 30lbs

The only problem if your rear body mouts have sagged evn slightly is the the spare will not fit in it cupboard so either let it down a little and carry and electric punp (opr service the Rover standard one!), fit a 165 x 15 for emergency or stow spare in the boot

Thank you Phil and 47P2, I will look into your sizes and radials. A width of 185 seems a little large to me, I think the original with was about 131!. Of course it all depends on the profile height. I found that modern 160/80R15 gives about the same diametre as the original.

The standard 185 x 15 has long been accpeted to be nearest equivalent both in loks and size and an approved mod by insurance companies. I have never heard of that size being made and certaint fitted and seems far too narrow unless its a very early P4 75/60

I suggest you SEARCH the P4 Forum as there is far more on there

You are correct. I measured the width wrong. It is actually 17.4cm. You mention a 185R15, to get the same diameter the complete equivalence would be 185/70R*15.
Thank you again.
