Hello there David and welcome to the forum.

I am the pre 1950 archivist for the RSR and maintain the relevant database and I am interested in what you say in your post, in particular you mention amongst your/your fathers previously owned Rovers a 14 DHC with Registration no. ACH 809.

Out of interest and according to the database we had a member from the Wisbech area with a 1947 Rover 12 tourer in the RSR some 20 years ago with this Registration no. ACH 809, it was green and cream with green interior. According to my copy of Glasses index of Registration nos. ACH was a Derbyshire Registration prefix issued from April 1947 to May 1948, which would tie in with a 1947 12 tourer, most of which were registered in 1948 when they were released on the home market. Whereas all the DHC's were prewar models!!

I actually have a photo of this 1947 12t which I took at the RSR South East Rally back in the 1980's, it looked in fine order at the time. Whilst the owner has not been a member for some year now I also seem to recall seeing the car at a non Rover rally probably about 7/8 years ago in the East Anglian area, possibly the same owner??

Regards
Andrew

Hi there

ACH 809
Not surprised to see she is currently taxed, on both occasions that I saw her she was certainly in a very roadworthy condition, sadly has not been in the RSR for some years.

The DVLA information giving first reg date 6 Jan 1948 ties in with the issuing period of the ACH suffix.

Andrew

For anyone interested now I bought ACH809 on January 29th, 1966 - Rover 12 Tourer, black with green upholstery, from G.M. Pearce. All in fine condition. I see there are questions above as to colour and type. It was 90 quid, and I hanker after the car even now. I must say, I'd love to know if it's still on the road and in good condition. I do have a photo, clearly showing colour (and girlfriend sitting on the radiator) and will see if I can figure out how to upload. I just registered onto the site.
