Rover Fire Extinguisher Company

Post by chris dancey » Thu Jan 16, 2014 6:50 pm

Whilst scrambling through a load of .....errr ' junk ' at a large antique emporium here in Brighton, I came across a fire extinguisher from 1938 ( KGV ) manufactured by the Rover Fire Extinguisher Company ' . Its made of brass and copper, quite heavy with a large handle, it has the crown and KGV on the rim also. I asked the antique dealer if he knew of its history and he said it came from a large house clearance in Tunbridge Wells, along with loads of other varios old items, they were found in the cellar with horse tackle and other items from about the time of WW2.

I am busy meeting up with fellow pre-war 10hp owners Mark Luff and Derek Field for a Rover day, this will make for an interesting conversation piece.

I will be taking it to the workshop on saturday to take off the years of grime, we have a buffer there also so may give it a polish.

Has anyone any knowledge of these, were these made by Rover ? I certainly have'nt come across one of these before.
