1947 P2 Drivers side window.

Post by MichaelKeay » Wed Dec 13, 2017 1:15 am

Single lever operation. Will not lock when door locked, easily pushed down from outside when door is locked. and pane drops when car on the move. Have not attempted to access by removal of the door lining and before doing so would appreciate advice from any P2 owner who has experienced similar problem. What will I find once door lining carefully lifted out without breaking any lugs for instance. Sounds like a replacement of mechanism but any advice greatly appreciated.

Weak spring is the likely culprit, don't but a second hand one as it will most likely be the same. Mike Couldry can supply a new one for you

Luli...thanks but the link appears on my screen to be in Hebrew.

47p2, thanks also. I will contact Mike, I’ve already bought some items from him, first class service.

I have a couple of springs sitting in a drawer in my garage, but they failed so no point selling them onto you as you would still be in the same predicament as you are now. From memory the springs weren't expensive and changing them over although a bit of a faff wasn't too taxing although I remember the metal edges did cause a few skin cuts to my arms when removing/fitting the window winder mechanism

Thanks for the kind thought 47P2. Mike Has already posted (yesterday) 2 new springs to me here in NZ. MIGHT BE OK in £stg but it’s double in NZD. MY wife and I are coming to Uk early April 2018 for a couple of months touring and I hope to visit Mike at Meteor and other suppliers of Rover P2 bits and pieces. Haven’t told the wife why I may need xtra bags for the return to NZ!!
