Here you can find more info and pictures about Kitchers and other specials : http://rover-kitcher.webklik.nl
There is also info about the electric waterpump I mounted.

Regards, Hans van den Heuvel

Could someone pls upload pics of other Kitchers, like Mike Maher's?

Hello Hans and list,
I also have a Kitcher. The one I have is the one in James Taylor's book belong to Henning Helmer in Denmark and now is in Australia. This one is in need of a total restoration in fact if it was not such a rare car it would be a basket case. I believe there are only seven of these smashing cars left so certainly something that needs to be kept more so as it is the only one down here in OZ. If someone could let me know how to paste photos I will send in a few of the restoration.
BTW I also have a 36 speed 14 Streamline Coupe that once the Kitcher is on the road will be next in line.
DenGal.

Hi Den, go to the front page of the forum (Board index) and follow the thread near the top that tells you how to add photos. It takes a few minutes to create a photobucket account first if you have not got one but then it is pretty easy. Just be careful about the size of your photo, if it is too big it will be cropped by the forum size limitations.

Whlist at Beaulieu, I met a gentleman(ex garage owner) from Newport in Wales. He was towing the Rover Saloon JD6900 on a trailer when it was involved in an accident. Rowley Kitcher bought the damaged car and made Hans's Kitcher Special. The Garage owner has promised some photos and I will post them here if they arrive.

Hallo Mike,
Did you ever get those pictures? Would be interesting, the car in it's old shape and with the damage visible, I would think...

At the moment I am having a new bonnet made with a hinge in the middle. Progress is visible on the website: http://www.carrosseriebouwjansen.nl/
In July I have visited Cambridge in the Rover. Very nice drive from Harwich, taking the small roads. Also went to Duxford for the Great Warbird Show.
Weather was quite hot, but no problems at all with the Kitcher since I mounted a Kenlowe and an electric waterpump (Graig Davis).

Regards, Hans.

Hallo all,

I have made a start for a website for Kitchers and other specials.
http://rover-kitcher.webklik.nl
There are some pictures of the progress on Den's Kitcher in Australia and an interesting German special, that is built to a very high standard (and costs), I was told.
Also you can see some pics of the new hinged bonnet on my car.

Regards, Hans.

My father purchased a Kitcher between 1969 and 1970 it was his personal car and I believe the last one built of the thirteen, he still has it at home in the garage and drives it every other year, its registration CDP 544 reg 1st of July 1946.

Many thanks Jeremy, you must be an avid reader of Classic and sports car.

I gather from your post that CDP544 is still on the road. The RSR is celebrating our 60th anniversary, with an event at Coughton Court near Alcester on Sunday 30th June, some 70 miles from Chepstow. My Kitcher Special will be there, It would be great to see you and and your Father with CDP if possible. Entry details are on our Website, www.thersr.co.uk and we have negotiated a reduced entry fee for non National Trust members at Coughton Court.

Was the other Kitcher you mentioned JD 6900, by any chance? That one is still in existence and now resides in Germany.

best regards

Rowland 'Rowley' Kitcher 1903 -1991 my great uncle born in Marchwood lived in Newport, south wales.
Well known in the motor world, built Rover 12 cars known as the 'Rover 12 Kitcher specials'. Just google and you will see.
He would regulary be seen at the Beaulieu auto jumble sales where he bought his last car which he renevated at the age of 80!
I believe 14 of his cars are still going in the world.
He also used to make banjos for himself and his son Robert.
Very talented man x

I would love to hear stories and see photos of his cars.
Thanks Irene
