Rover/BMW/TD4 Injectors

I note the discussion on which Rover 75 is best. I had a new Rover 75 Tourer in 2002, a 2.0 litre petrol automatic. We loved the car but it was pretty gutless. In 2005 we got a new 75 Tourer Connoisseur SE auto with the BMW diesel engine. It was streets ahead of the previous car. We tow a caravan on holiday and it was the most able and stable vehicle we have owned. Within weeks , Rover went bust !
The 2005 Rover departed in 2008 but we have always had a soft spot for the 75's and recently I have bought a 75 from 2004 to keep with minimal use. They are collectors items.
I also have had Freelanders which have the same engines. The most recent one ,an 06, was bought at auction, a TD4 so that I could 'explore' the engine in case the 75 needed repair.
I have lifted the head in a 1.8 K series and replaced the gasket. An easy DIY if you watch the timing but has anyone tried to remove injectors from the BMW diesel engine so that the head can be lifted ?
Until now I would have advised buyers to go for the BMW diesel, but perhaps petrol is easier to repair.
I am interested in any experiences/tricks on how to get the injectors out without damaging them [or me ! ]
