Remote locking fobs
Remote locking fobs
Can any member who owns a Rover 827, circa 1993-95, who has a working remote locking fob please help me with the part and type numbers that are embossed on the back.
I have recently bought a 1995 Rover 827 (resplendent in Nightfire Red) that was originally exported to Japan and then imported into New Zealand early in 2003. During its moves it has lost both its fobs, and I would like to have the convenience of remote locking, but need to find the right type. I understand that the later 825s had a transponder in them, as well, to unlock the engine immobiliser, so virtually all 825s I have seen in NZ still have their remote locks.
I have a local locksmith with the correct computer equipment to reprogramme the car/remote to work together, but I do need to make sure I get the right type, and without one to start with, this is a tad tricky.
Can anyone out there help me?

Hello Adrian,
If I read the information correctly, the earlier cars have an Infra red key fob - see http://homepage.ntlworld.com/william.wh ... %20Locking.

I wonder if Paul G can help, as he holds the post 50 library?
Hope this all helps
regards
Mike

Hi Adrian,
I'll have a look in the library to see what I can find. Probably be some point over the weekend I'm afraid but will get back to you once I've had a look.
Regards
Paul

Re: Remote locking fobs
Hi Adrian,
I hope you and Jane are both well.
I've had a look through the library info, and haven't managed to turn up much I'm afraid. Looking through a printed parts catalogue that I have for an 800 series Oct '91 (VIN RS100318) on it lists the Transmitter sender (central door locking/burgular alarm) as YWX 10004 . It also states When ordering quote transmitter code number, which clearly isn't any help to you. I've checked this number on the Rimmers website, see http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID004491 and it seems to line up OK on there, so I think this is probably the correct part number for you.
Hope that is at least a small amount of help.
Regards

Re: Remote locking fobs
Thanks Paul.
It appears to be a very complicated subject, and I am reluctant to spend vast sums of money on a new remote unless I am, at least a little, confident it will work.
I am grateful you went to the trouble of checking through the library for me.
best wishes

Re: Remote locking fobs
In case anyone is reading this again after so many years(!) I eventually discovered it is vital to have a matching pair, remote transmitter and the receiver unit fitted by the interior mirror. I was able to get a matched pair from a specialist in the UK, which took me all of a aminute to fit, and I now have a fully functioning system. I am not too sure why people sell just the remote on ebay as it MUST be matched to the receiver to work at all.

Re: Remote locking fobs
To find the correct remote locking fob for your 1995 Rover 827, you'll need to look for specific part numbers that match the original equipment. Based on similar models from that period, the part number is likely YWX 10003, commonly found on the two-button remote fobs used by Rover during the early to mid-90sachandler wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2012 4:35 amCan any member who owns a Rover 827, circa 1993-95, who has a working remote locking fob please help me with the part and type numbers that are embossed on the back.
