On the hunt

Post by MarkK » Sun Oct 01, 2017 1:59 pm

I parted with my beautiful pastel blue 1954 90 in 2011. Almost immediately I regretted it. So with Rover radar I located a P2 and bought it, and I'm very happy with it indeed.
But I'm feeling that I want a P4 again. It will have to be a 60 or a 105R. There are reasons why I need the lighter steering or Roverdrive gearbox

Before I look more seriously, I wonder what owners in 2017 think about using the P4 daily? I can't really keep a P4 as well as the P2 and a daily car as well.

I use our 100 daily and touring Ireland as well. Ideal for modern roads. It does have power steering fitted by the previous owner (my late father in law) but I had no bother driving it before even on radials as I am used to series Land Rovers and the P2. Even my wife's classic Mini has heavier steering. I do like the power steering and auto boxes of our P5 and P5B and I use these every day too.

A number of P4 owners have had modern electric power steering fitted and are very pleased with it.

I think a P4 60 may be too underpowered for everyday use and the 105R does have the heaviest steering of all them

I used my P4 daily for years. Now the 3 litre is on the road I use that more, better stereo and power steering.
