Wow Mike - at £3.2K for a complete refit to your car - £3000++ just for headlining seems even more ridiculous!!

Lowest estimate for headlining so far is £1000. I've also been quoted £1500 per week for seats & headlining and it'll take 3 weeks work. Can't afford £4500 + materials! Where are these prices made up from?!

Hi All

Have received a comprehensive list from my mechanic of what wants doing. I know it's difficult but could any of you estimate how much you would be willing to pay for this work below as my mechanic's estimate has increased by £2500 from what he originally said (he had looked over the car). This is purely for mechanical work not the headlining or seats etc.

Rover 75 P3

1. Horn inoperative

2. Gauges various electrical problems

3. Sunroof plated over/ no internals

4. Drivers window mechanism broken (repair or replace)

5. Rear lights inoperative

6. No tools in tool tray

7. Clutch problem Labours 10 hours

8. Seats poor condition (sugest good feed)

9. Radiator leak Labour 4hours - radiator £360.00 new/recon

10. Engine runs but rough - needs service plugs, leads oil need changing etc

11. Headlining?

12. Poor body repairs & paint work rough

13. Sills- holed & corroded fixing for running boards (scructual part of body)

14. Brake pipe to near side front corroded & need replacing

15. Rear chassis holed & corroded to rear spring hangers & movement in bushes

16. Battery missing

17. Lower & upper wishbone bushes perished & worn

18. Rear spring bushes perished & worn excessively

19. Rear bump stop missing

20. Battery tray corroded

21. Oil leak in gearbox taleshaft

22. Rear X member bent

23. Front anti-roll bar bushes perished

24. Windscreen seal perished & disintegrated

26. wheel cylinder nuts loose

Thanks guys!

Does this sound right for welding work?

1, remove running board section and strip out inside 2.5hrs

2, cutting off old brackets and taking patterns 1.25hrs

3, brace up body 1hr

4, cut out sill section (the entire lengh is corroded) 4hrs

5, fold new sill in 1.2mm in 2 sections roll curve to shape spot weld together 7hrs

6, weld in new sill completely to floor section 6hrs

7, weld in and make good to b, c and d posts 5.5hrs

total 27.25 hrs per side

Are you not able to tackle any of the work your self say starting with something simple like making up the battery box for example then just paying to have it welded in place as often its the fabrication that takes the time and thus money, While I realize major structural work can not always be tacked by many of us there seems to be lots of jobs on the list you could have a go at your self, the sun roof tor example your welcome to come and look at mine to get an idea of how it all goes together and take photos as I guess your not to far away judging by your original post. I guess I'm lucky as I cut my teeth working at a Leyland garage back in the 1970s at a time when mechanics still repaired cars not just swapped parts but on saying that there a fairly simple machine realty and if you take your time there quite easy to work on. Remember restoration is like eating an elephant small bite at a time. Regards Steve
PS. just spotted your pm and have replies Steve

As has been said previously about the seats, it`s difficult to assess welding without seeing it properly, however, from the times and descriptions you have given, then I don`t think it`s far out it`s certainly sounds like a good weeks work and around £1200 I`d say
