1947 Rover 12 tourer

Post by andrewmcg » Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:35 pm

A interesting 1947 12 tourer is listed on the Baron's website for for their auction sale on 7th Sept.

Following a long restoration by the owner it came into the RSR for the first time in 2009, we were not previously aware of this car.

It certainly looks good, not sure about the red piping??, but I think the price guide £20/25,000 is a bit optimistic, according to the RSR archive records, even in the good years of the 1990's, £17/18, 000 was the best achieved, with sales in more recent years, of equally well restored specimens, nearer the £12/13,000 mark.

Maybe the extremely high price (region £9450) achieved by H&H for Bill Bateman's 12 tourer, which was in need of a total rebuild, is influencing the guide price?? who knows.

Regards to all

According to Baron's website this tourer sold for £18,000 plus buyers premium, not bad in todays market, it almost equals the prices achieved some 10/15 years back, I wonder if it remains in the UK??
I am not aware of the £20,000 barrier being broken for a 1947 tourer, but am always prepared to be proved wrong.
