Speed 14 Body Mountings

Post by hodsonaj » Sat Jan 14, 2023 11:09 am

A question for those who have been there before me! I am in the process of tackling the body on our Speed 14 Coupe but I am puzzled by the number of bolts attaching body to chassis, mainly because I think someone has added several to try and save further damage! There are what appear to be additional (hex head) bolts through the large plate at the front at the footwell/bulkhead join, on the B post and on the plate at the rear where the rear wings join the main bottom member, all of which are attaching the body frame to the chassis outrigger. There is also a bolt, which I think is original, attaching the bottom member to the chassis outriggers. If the others are extra this would seem to be the only bolt attaching body to chassis. I know ash frames are supposed to flex but it does seem a bit excessive to have but one fixing point.

Any advice will be welcome!
