My offside rear hub appears to have a leaking oil seal, any ideas of price/ availability/ options of alternative model fit items? Cheers, Mark

Two things to check before replacing the seal.
First check the diff breather isn't blocked as this can cause too much pressure and blow oil past the seal, second check the oil level in the diff isn't overfilled (doesn't take much) as the extra oil will push out past the seal.

Well, removed rear seat, no breather apparent, just small square headed plug on top of diff. Would Land Rover one fit?

That part number 3289 (1936 on diffs) supersedes to FTC3670 which is a swivel housing plug on most modern landrover vehicles, Srs one to date.
The Land Rover axle breather, part 515845 fits P4, P5, possibly P6 and Land Rovers from 1960 on.and has a much smaller diameter thread.

You could buy an FTC 3670 and drill and tap it to take 515845. Parts should cost under £10

Many thanks Mike, mines definitely a 6 spline axle. There was an audible "hiss" when I removed the top filler plug, so it's pressurising.
I'll try the drilled/ tapped / series breather option I think, seems a neat solution.

Further information from a Land Rover owner suggests that the breather may fit the threaded hole in the diff. It looks a lot smaller in the available pictures.
