Temporary engine swap?

Evening all. My 1935 14 engine is now using quite a bit of oil, smokes under load and has a knock that sounds like cam/ cam chain ( which is hard over on adjustment). Is there any alternative engine that'll bolt up to the gearbox while it's being rebuilt? I believe the Land Rover box is the same stud pattern so one of their engines may fit? Any suggestions asI need to keep it on the road while sorting the original engine.

Except clutch won't work, propshaft wrong length, custom exhaust required, throttle linkage, fuel pump, hoses, speedo cable drive, axle ratio too low, engine mounts, gearbox mounts.

I did this conversion almost 30years ago, it wasn't very difficult although I had a well equipped workshop,
I also fitted a 1947 10hp rear axle (narrow track) then 4.3 P4 diff. yes I had the prop shaft made to fit,
this was a very useable daily transport and the 35 14 hydraulic brakes were fine.

I recently converted a Land Rover Lightweight to 4.2 v8 and 5 speed LT77. It wasn't that difficult technically but a lot of little snags that took longer to resolve than anticipated.
Please don't think I'm dismissing your ideas, far from it, I would like to keep the straight six, maybe an alternative one from another model possibly?
