Hello all,

Hope you've all had a good summer of Rovering!

The picture is of my rear off-side spring shackle. (1937 model 10hp saloon.)

I have a query regarding the lower nut. I think it should be on the inside of the shackle because the nearside shackle lower nut will sometimes foul on the rear wing. I recently saw another 10hp saloon and this had the lower nut on the inside of the shackle. I realise I can't simply reverse the bolt because of the casting of the shackle which acts as a retainer for the bolt head to stop it turning. So my question is, can I simply turn the shackle round or is it likely that the springs are on the wrong side? Are they handed?

The lower pin oil is fed from the top pin through the shackle, to a hole drilled near its top. Your spring pin is installed correctly. See more here: http://wp.me/pXLKy-gE

I must confess that I hadn't doubted the fitting until I saw another 37 10 that had the lower bolt with the head on the outside. I guess I should look at the fitment of the rear wing to see why it's coming into contact with the nut. I know that there is some degree of possible movement of the wing.
