LEAKING PETROL TANK

Post by jefflee » Wed Feb 04, 2015 11:58 am

Hi All,
I think others out there will have had this problem,
Can anyone comment on a remedy and/or recommend a company to renew or repair a porous p2 petrol tank.
Thanks Jeff.

Hi,
The tank is now off the car,
There's a couple of rusty places where it weeps through tiny pinholes which got worse when I tried to wipe off the dirt.
It may have rusted from the inside when the car was standing for a lot of years.
Jeff.

Hi Jeff I have a Kawasaki Zephyr ZR1100 1994 and on the Zephyr Zone Forum which is worldwide a lot of people have used a product called POR-15 as 1100 tanks are like looking for a pin in a haystack. Follow this link. Regards Iain http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POR-15-Fuel-T ... 58aec678b3

Some years ago, Northampton Autorads said that they could repair fuel tank leaks.

Hope this helps

Facing similar issues in the 1980's I successfully used an Eastwoods product involving three phases of scaling, etching and a sort of polymer sealing.

After almost 30 years our tank is still leak-free

This company as you may know disappeared for a time but Frost Automotive do retail some of their products now including these kits.

Suggest if you look at their website you may go that route.

Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs etc but never ever weld a leaking fuel tank............
