My 1936 12hp s/s came with a long starting handle: the car was fitted with a guide above the front bumper and a cast guide fitted to the front chassis cross-member. The handle didn't align with the dog on the engine: I removed the chassis guide and now I can turn the engine over slowly on the handle for adjusting points etc. but can't apply enough force to turn the engine over to start it.
What is the correct starting handle set up for this model?

As can be seen from the 1936 sales brochure, these models did not have long starting handles passing through a guide bracket fixed to the bumper blade. There should be no such bracket, since the starting handle is a short one, almost Z-shaped, which operates inside the bumper. You will need the guide in place which you have removed from the chassis frame. You may be able to obtain one within the club - but if not I can supply dimensions.
