Number Plates

Post by Hungry_Horse_1955 » Mon Apr 06, 2009 12:54 pm

Ok, another question with regard to my father's 1939 Rover 16 Sports Saloon.

He is going to have to put some new number plates on it and what we need to know is what type were they?

We have the option of i) white paint on a black background, ii) white plastic letters on black plate or iii) pressed aluminium.

Can anyone help?

Pressed aluminium with 3 1/2 inch high letters

The rear plate is smaller than the front

Silver or White painted cast (Mazak) on black were the usual ones then - pressed alloy (Silver/Black) were next ones up from hand painted white on black when new ie cheapo. Mine has its original pressed plates it seems 3½" as they should be

Most fit the pressed types now though - most expensive where the cast aluminium plates!

All types can still be had at a price
