Not all radios were manufactured by Radiomobile in the 40s.

Ceratinly quite weighty and awkward to fit and then you had to buy a special car-radio licence to use them! Like dog licences they were often ignored till abolished in the late 1960's. The many pull out transistorised potable versions that appeared in the early 60's got round the license requirement
