Re: A.M. Instruments, Rover 20

What I am wondering is why these spedometers appear to be upside down compared to the one in my 14? Ie the zero on the dial is at the top as well as the 80mph. Is there a logic?

Re: Maurauder

Hi Roger The difference between saloon and coupe version of a model can be quite subtle but in Rover terms it seems a 'saloon' means more emphasis is given to the space for the rear passengers but the 'coupe' indicates a slightly lowered roof especially towards the rear giving rear seat passengers l...

Re: Maurauder

Hi Roger I only realised yesterday that there were Streamline saloons as well as Coupe's made in this style. The saloon has a noticeably steeper slope on the back because they allowed more headroon over the rear seats. You mentioned the car being a saloon so was it steeper than the one I illustrated...

Re: Maurauder

I'm glad thats sorted then. Maybe the club's records can summon up some details if you can remember the reg number or the name of the owner you bought from or who you sold to?

Re: Maurdauder

There are many others in the club who would have a better knowledge but the only model I can think of would be a '35/36 Speed 14 Streamline Coupe not a Maurauder. The streamline has that 'fastback' sloping rear, triple SU's and knock on wheels. Ring any bells? ( 35 Speed 14 Streamline.jpg I was thin...

Re: Maurauder

According to a quick look on the internet there was only one fixed head Marauder ever made and that was a specila order -dubbed an 'A100' coupe - with triple SU's. Perhaps this was the one? Does it look familiar? I dont know where it is now but this photo was taken in 2015. More history would be fas...

Re: Kevlar brake shoes

To be fair I was relatively impressed by the brakes on my 14 when I first got the car, this being the first time I had experienced using rod brakes. In normal circumstance they are fine but I have experienced life threatening brake fade ie the brakes faded away to nothing going down a long narrow hi...

Kevlar brake shoes

I am investigating getting the brake shoes on my 1939 Rover P2 relined with Kevlar compound in order to improve stopping/reduce brake fade. The Kevlar reportedly has maybe 50% or more improved friction and resistance to fade. I wonder if any other owners have gone down this route and could offer adv...

Re: Fuel Starvation?

Luli is probably right but how instantly does the engine die when put under load? If the problem is dirt in the carb jets being pulled into a position where it blocks the flow say, the effect would be almost instant. If however the needle valve is sticking the engine would presumably have a whole bo...
