Re: Service experiences in the south east

Geoffrey, Useful feedback. Re the exhaust; I suspect that your new silencer is of the type that has a holed pipe running through it with wadding of some sort- wire wool or fibre- packed around it, rather than metal baffles. In other words you probably have a ‘straight through’ exhaust, as we used to...

Re: Short circuit across points

Steve, Electrical issues are almost impossible to determine remotely. However, while I’m not saying that what you are seeing is correct, it sounds likely that you will have continuity testing the way you are. With the 12volts removed the components that it feeds will have continuity to earth or they...

Re: 1932 Nizam photos

Jason, Thanks for the pictures. What a cracking car you have there! Rover have always been recognised for making innovative and dependable cars but the fun and sportiness many models possess is frequently overlooked. Your Nizam is a great reminder of that other side of the marque and one we should c...

Re: Fuel level sender

Geoff, I’ve just had a look at my ‘37 Saloon. If your car is the same, there should be an access hole in the boot floor. This is to the offside of centre. I’ve read on this site posts about rotten floors and wooden boot floors etc so it is possible that your car has been repaired at some point in th...

Re: Fuel level sender

Geoff, Moss Europe stock appropriate sender units. They are £40-£45 each. I used one in my P1 Tourer and it works fine. I don’t recall the exact part number but, once removed, it’s easy enough to compare your old one with the pictures on their site. I’ve just searched tank sender on their site and f...

Re: Horn Wiring

Graham, I’m not familiar with post war cars but with the pre war models I’m pretty sure that access to the top of the advance control tube and the wires is possible once the horn etc is disconnected. Assuming the post war cars are similar it should be possible to replace the wires with the tube in s...

Re: Differential Drain plug Seal

Thanks for the confirmation on that. I’ve got straight 40 grade Castrol oil in my Tourer gearbox and diff, but I’ve run out of that now and will be needing something for my Saloon. I now know what options I have.

Thanks again.

Tony.

Re: Differential Drain plug Seal

Hi Phil, I’m about to refill my ‘37 12 diff so your advice re oil comes at a good time. However, I’m sure I’ve read on these pages that EP oil contains additives that can harm the bronze parts of the diff /gearbox. Easier to buy though so I’d value your experience on this.

Thanks

Tony.

Re: New battery for my 75 P3

Hi Graham, You probably don’t need anything bigger than a 60Ah. The key thing is the physical dimensions. If you measure up your battery tray and take account of height, the best place to get one Is Eurocarparts. Look on their website and click on batteries- your reg no won’t help! If you select a b...
