Not sure but it would make sense to there are plenty of modern ones that are all rubber that could just be pushed or glued in place I did this to a 1955 Aerial motor cycle engine years ago.

My clock & speedo both have a solid gung around the glass after a struggle I managed to lift the 4 tangs and remove the glass, the glass has another metal ring and this is very rusty. I intend to clean up all the parts and assemble using black RTV. Is this the best method or has anyone done this in ...
