Re: Rover 2 litre 1929

Paul Have just acquired one of these, far worse than yours, no body, engine incomplete and some rot in the chassis. However, they are so rare that it had to be rescued for eventual restoration by someone. One request for help - the bulkhead is not the original being the wrong shape, too narrow. Also...

Re: Streamline wings

Hi Dirk
Unfortunately I very rarely check the forum, I've met you several times both here and in the US since you posted this!
Always email me directly and I'll try to answer any query.
Which reminds me, is there anything outstanding - info, or anything else - which I may have forgotten?

Re: Cylinder head commonality

I see no reason why a late 10/25 head should not fit. So far as I know the only difference between the heads is the number of studs fixing the manifold (8 & 6) and the shape of the waterway around the central stud.
Head gaskets (in stock) should also be interchangeable

Re: Up date for my 1929 rover wayman soloon

Hi Gerry Unfortunately we didn't meet when I was in NZ for the 1996 rally, and the 2-litre on the rally was a sportsmans coupe, (I think). Very pleased to hear of your progress. Have just acquired the remains of a similar car, no body left, engine incomplete and chassis rotten in places, but still v...

14hp Chassis frame wanted

Is anyone breaking an early Rover 14hp?
I need a chassis frame, ideally 1936 or 1937, but a 1935 or 38 one could be modified. I'm prepared to take a complete car, although would prefer not to break a restorable Rover. Any leads?

Re: Smiths water temperature gauge

Sorry to hear you've cut a hole in the dashboard to fit this. The neater way to do this would have been to fit a combined oil pressure / water temp gauge in place of the oil pressure gauge. Such gauges were fitted to most 1939-49 cars - newly overhauled gauges with the correct matching dials, chrome...

Re: Chassis Number Identification

So far as I know, the chassis number was not stamped into the frame of Rover between 1930 (to be confirmed) and 1938, with the known exception of the 1936 10hp and perhaps other 10hp years. I seem to remember this 10hp number was on the nearside chassis rail. 1939 cars have the number on the diagona...

Re: Streamline wings

Dirk While originally slighly different front wings were fitted depending on year, Rover later standardised 01359 & 01360 for the whole P1 range (except the 1937/8 10hp.) There are differences - some wings taper in to join the running boards, others are staight. Cant yet help on back wings.. Agree t...

Paul
Very pleased to see such progress on the 2-Litre. My Meteor was in a similar bodily state and is now strippd to a bare chassis, pending completion of my garage rebuild.
