Re: Fuel union on P2

Pressurize it with air, immerse in water and look for bubbles, which will indicate where the leak comes from - if it does.

Re: Fuel union on P2

Nothing would replace a systematic analysis. I repeat my suggestion to hook an up alternative fuel supply, directly to the carburetor. For inspiration see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVwBOlCSPx8

Re: Fuel union on P2

Solex 30FAI carburetor is designed for 1.5 psi petrol pressure, therefor a pressure regulator is required when using a facet cube pump. Perhaps SU carburetors can live with a higher value.

Re: Fuel union on P2

Congratulations! It feels good to solve a problem. On one car I am using AUA25EN by SU. It is a low pessure pump located in the engine bay (for a positive ground car you need AUA25EP). It works perfectly. On the other car I am using Facet cube pump http://www.facet-purolator.com/cube-fuel-pumps.php ...

Re: Fuel union on P2

The best would be to separate the suspects: Electrical or fuel supply? If you can arrange (safely!) an alternative fuel supply (like gravity fed or temporary tank and pump) and verify that the car runs fine with it – you can concentrate on the fuel system. Is your petrol fresh and clean (no water or...

Re: Fuel union on P2

A common test method is the following: Disconnect the line from the tank and seal it with a plug. Use an air pump (like bicycle pump, tire pump etc.) to pressurize it, and brush soap-water solution on any suspicious part. A leak will show up as soap bubbles. One reason for high fuel consumption may ...

Re: Fuel union on P2

The nominal inner diameter of the fuel line is 6 mm and the union orifice diameter is 3 mm. It should not cause a problem. Using an electrical fuel pump you can measure the rate of fuel pumping. 0.8 liter per minute means, at 100 km per hour, ~2 km per liter. Most fuel pumps are capable of this figu...

Re: Fuel union on P2

What you describe seems to be the original. This is how it appears in the spares list:

The dark edge is the reduction union, and it is an integral part of the petrol sender. See more here: http://wp.me/pXLKy-iO

Re: New '47 P2 Owner

The solenoid resistance is 19.2 ohms, its outer diameter is 25 mm and length is 23 mm. I don't have access to measure the inner diameter but perhaps you can do it. This is sufficient information to a coil winder. But meanwhile be careful with the dashboard. The freewheel cable, the oil pressure hose...

We had used sand blasting. A good blasting facility should be able to protect both the workers and the environment from the dangerous dust. See more here: http://wp.me/pXLKy-y3
