Re: Vintage Beaded edge tires

By rough calculation, and depending on exactly how the tyre is measured, isnt that 30" x 3" or 30" x 3 1/2"? If so that is Model T Ford size, and should be readily available. AFAIK Beaded Edge tyres were measured by outside (tread ) diameter. If they are one of the above sizes, then I'd suggest cont...

Re: Assistance requested

Have you tried Scotts Old Auto Rubber for the quarterlight seals? http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/ On a P6B that I had, there was an angle-iron gadget that sat over the battery with two eyes for bolts to pass through. I can't remember where the bolts anchored though. I am sure that a bit of mo...

Weekend outing in Oz

Today was the holiday here for the Queens Birthday. Several cars from the Rover Car Club of Australia, (based in Victoria) went on a weekend away. On their return towards Melbourne today, they paused for lunch at the township of Moe. Here are a couple of pics of them near Moe Railway Station. (Natur...

Re: New/Old Member

One mile from Culloden eh! Would like to call in one day, but it is a long way from Melbourne, and I might not be very welcome if I let it be known that my surname is Hawley!!

Canadian assembled car??

This has just appeared on E-bay for sale in Queensland Australia. The seller says it was built in Canada. Is his story likely? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/rare-CANADIAN-built-1948-model-rover-P3-saloon_W0QQitemZ250371912193QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars?hash=item250371912193&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66...

Re: Australian Bushfires

Here is some more from Warwick. A colleague has directed me to a web site in Boston (US), of all places. There is a good collection of press photos of a very high standard. They tend to convey the atmosphere much better than the TV images. Here's the link: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2009/02/bu...

Australian Bushfires

Warwick is a new member of this forum and was fortunate enough to be on the edge, rather than in the middle of one of the Victorian bushfires. He is a P5 owner. I asked him if I could post this story here on his behalf. You will find Warwick's photos a story in themselves. Dane Posted 11:13am Frida...

Movie of a 1966 Vintage Rally

Vintage motoring was alive and well in New Zealand in 1966. Below is a link to a movie that I shot that year- and there is a Rover in it! The youngest car participating in the rally is the 1931 Model A Ford, however I imagine that there will be almost as much interest in the 'modern' non-participant...

Re: Short P4 Video

Excellent - are roads generally as dusty as that - black is not good colour in this terain Thanks, Phil. The dust seems to subside after rain!! Most roads in our region are tar-sealed, our road services 5 properties (only 3 with permanent residents), it is a dead end and about a mile and a half lon...
