When the time had come to pay attention to the fuel tank, I decided to replace it with a stainless still replica. A local shop had constructed it for me – including a new muffler.

Call them and complain. The specifications in their web site clearly say: "-Adjuster lug thickness. 8mm -Mounting lug thickness. 10mm -Distace between mounting lugs 165mm -Shaft Diameter 17mm -Amps Output 45A" I too had a problem with them, they send me a C40 replacment instead of C45. 1. Yes, you can do a preliminary adjustment when the engine is cold. Some advice: Use the starting handle to turn the engine. Removing the spark plugs will considerably ease that operation.
