Re: Removing fuel tank on P2 DHC

I have now taken the fuel tank off and am cleaning it- about a pound of rusty bits came out with the first 2 water washes and now applied the sludge cleaner stage. I dont think that can all have happened in the last 2 years but I shall certainly be making sure I keep the tank full in future! Also re...

Re: Removing fuel tank on P2 DHC

Many thanks- that sounds reassuringly straightforward. Knowing my luck it wont be but I am encouraged.
By the way the parts list shows rubber pads top and bottom of the fixing bracket- is this just to cushion movement or to isolate the tank electrically?

Removing fuel tank on P2 DHC

Having failed to resolve my problem getting up hills I have fallen back on cleaning. resurfacing or replacing the fuel tank to eliminate that as a potential cause for fuel starvation- I know it is pretty rusty in there because the new in line filter went brown within seconds of starting up. BUT how ...

Re: Original Lifting Jack

If anyone has any information on refurbishing either the hydraulic jack or the crank handle Bevellift jack I would appreciate knowing anything about them - I am loth to take them apart with no idea of how they are put together. My hydraulic jack is seized anyway so brute force may have to be the fir...

Re: Lucas headlamp lenses

And I hear from Mike Maher that 35 -37 Rover models also had this pattern so no good for my car. Thanks for the information though. I shall put these (there are 3) on Ebay in due course unless any members wishes to collar them first!

Lucas headlamp lenses

I have been trying to rationalise my spares and I note that the spare 8" headlamp lenses - D811 or D611 part no 501598 - do not match the originals (39 DHC). Does anyone recognise these? If I do get round to replacing the original 8" lenses ( I currently have later smaller dipping conversions in pla...

Re: Pedal gaiters

You will be pleased to learn that I finally sourced some rubber grommets for the accelerator shaft - which took a long time to arrive from China. However although they are technically oversized they did fit into the hole. [img]http://s172.photobucket.com/user/RobHomewood/media/Blank%20grommet%20in%2...

Re: Brake Rods Binding

Thank you Luli for your ever helpful blog link. Alas you are quite right- when I looked I could see no sign of the buffers at all- they were history and the axle was sat straight onto the chassis! Only when I let the car down off the axle stands could I see the minimal remains of the buffers.[img ht...

Brake Rods Binding

I was under the back seat doing some wiring (39 14 DHC) when I noticed that the main front to back brake rod is binding on the chassis cross member ( over) and the rear axle (under). In fact it is bent. Would this be just because the car is up on axle stands and the wheels/rear axle are hanging abno...
