Re: Blowing oil.

From memory P3 pistons had their ring land at the oil drilled to let the oil go inside the piston and down, but it also allowed sump pressure to blow oil past the rings sometimes. Check that your oil breather is clear, and not building pressure when at full throttle. jp 26 Rover 9, previously P2,P3,...

Re: How to raise the P3 from the front.

Some Bentleys with heavy bodywork were prone to bending of the rear axle producing negative camber, so they started making the axles with positive camber to compensate, I have read. Are all the front end suspension bushes in good shape? As I recall these bushes were quite small in diameter - maybe 1...

Re: 10/25 Water Pump

From the Upkeep book for the 10/25 (have a pdf), the pump shown in the engine cross section looks VERY similar to that on my 1926 9/20 - see here https://imgur.com/EZkCOB7 Seems to be in good condition, pumps well, and only has a tiny weep from the grease/oil fitting. The pump on my spare engine is ...

Re: 1926 ROver 9/20 steering box info

Fortunately my fix was easy. Once I got the drag link separated from the box, It was obvious the box was in very good order - smooth and free. Then I discovered that one ball joint on the drag link was much too tight. Took a bit of heat to get the screw in plug free, but after that it all went toget...

Re: P3 Tyres

Late to the party here, but my recollection of a P2 or P3 in the 50s was that tyre pressures (on crossplies) were a choice between factory for ride(and short life), and life (and HARD ride). I would go for radials for sure. Dont Series Landys use 600-16s - I had radial Pirelli Scorpions on my Lightw...

Re: How to raise the P3 from the front.

I suspect the rear springs are set too high. Phile suggested excessive camber at the rear - difficult to get camber on a live rear axle isnt it? Lovely piece of work , good to see.

1926 ROver 9/20 steering box info

Have a 26 9, with pretty much everything overhauled years ago, with very heavy steering - only recently actually got to drive it a little. The box is shown in the linked pdf (p2, centre, sorry about the quality) as having an eccentric cover (plate that carries the sector shaft) so you can adjust the...

Re: P6B battery hold down dimensions please

The 174 wide would fit OK, but the other sides rule it out.
thanks
