Re: Rover Adverts 1930-1935

John and Phil I agree Rovers UK publicity always used 'Saloon' for the six light and 'Sports Saloon' for the four light. However, out of interest, when I was the Pre 1950 Registrar I noticed there were a number of variants used when overseas members gave their cars details, not only in Australia but...

Re: Rover Adverts 1930-1935

Hello there James I feel we have two different subjects getting slightly intermixed. Streamline models and speed models Streamline refers to a streamline body shape which was only available for the model years 1935 and 1936. This body was available on the the Rover 14 chassis and engine in 3 differe...

Re: This forum

Paul Long time no see, I have spent the last 12 months having a new set of hips fitted (a bit beyond my DIY/Restoration capabilities), and am now pain free and one inch taller than when we last met. However now finished with crutches and getting back to car restoration and whilst looking for bits on...

Re: Evening all from wet and windy Suffolk

Pre 1950 RSR Archives John and Phil Your comments noted fyg I have built this data base up over the last 10 years and it now lists nearly 5,000 different owners of the various Rover cars from 1904 to 1949, it has been quite time consuming. There is no great secret about the archive database and owne...

Re: Hello from the States

Hello there Dirk This car was in the RSR under both the previous owners, in fact I had many phone conversations with Alan Wakely regarding bits and pieces missing from his car and he came over to see my 'very original and complete' Speed 14 to see what was what. I did not see his car but If I rememb...

Re: Hello from the States

Hello there Dirk I am a new member to the forum and interested to see that you are about to restore a Speed 14 Streamline coupe I finished restoring one of these about 15 years ago and sold it on about 6 years ago. I will see if I can find any appropriate photos for you but I fear most, if not all, ...

Re: RSR archive data base

Hello there John The pre-1950 database that I maintain for the RSR basically contains the year/type/model of each car together with its registration number/chassis number/colour of body and interior and its current general condition (A to G asper application/renewal form), I would say about 50 perce...

Evening all from wet and windy Suffolk

My interest in 'running board Rovers' goes back to about 1949 when one of my uncles would visit us in a prewar Rover 14, I recall in particular the headlights, the opening windscreen and his explanation of the freewheel, very interesting to a ten year old. I purchased my first P2, a 1946 Rover 10 in...
