Re: 37 P2 Restoration Progress

Bill, Many thanks for the detailed reply. I’ve already put most of the piping in and, glad to report that I got it almost correct, based on your information. However, I think I shall need to order some more to address the bits I got wrong! Part of the challenge is getting all the bits back into the ...

Re: P2 brake balance assembly

Rob, some pictures of my 36 Tourer. Should be similar to your car. These were all taken with hand brake off to show key points in system. I wouldn’t normally upload so many pictures but I think it might help you to see another one. Tony. 61332C59-9D35-4D9B-B6BE-529961784242.jpeg B005D6D4-03C0-43D1-A...

Re: P2 brake balance assembly

Rob, Adjusting the main rods won't affect side to side balance. It's clear you have an issue with the rear if the handbrake isn't good and the rear balancer should sit closely in its axel location and not rest against the tank. So shortening the main rod to the rear sounds like a logical first step....

Re: P2 brake balance assembly

Rob, Well that's a relief, my apologies for the misunderstanding. That said and hoping I've got it clear now, the rear balancer should be sitting close to the axel in its swivel when the brakes are not operated. If yours is pushing out far enough to hit the tank when the pedal is released then there...

Re: P2 brake balance assembly

Rob, If I understand your posts correctly, the brake rod to the rear is pushing to operate the swivel for the rear cross rods and, in doing so, pushing the balance piston out into the front of the tank? This is wrong. The brake rod should be pulling towards the axle when you operate the brake. I can...

Re: 37 P2 Restoration Progress

Luli, Unfortunately, the fuel pump was too close to the inner wing and I shall have to re think it’s location. This is annoying because the fuel pipe has been cut to length and the in line filter put in place. Hopefully, it will be a simple matter of extending the rubber fuel pipe from the filter an...

Re: 37 P2 Restoration Progress

John, Rob, Thanks for your positive responses. It looks better in the pics than in real life but, having looked at it for so long, I see all the faults. I've put the other wing on since taking these pictures but I still have the piping to sort out before doing everything up right. I've got the runni...

Re: Freewheel cable etc

Rob, Just wondering why your car cuts outs on the over run? If you have a Startex system I suppose that might be the reason but surely Rover would have considered the issue of restarting while in Freewheel and you certainly wouldn’t want the starter engaging while in gear. Or is it that your car is ...

37 P2 Restoration Progress

DMB 750 seems to have taken a long time to get sorted! It’s three years since I bought my 12 Saloon and started, what has become, a lengthy restoration. However, with the lock down lifted, I’ve been able to resume work on the old girl. Having fitted the engine ancillaries and filled the engine, box ...

Re: 1934 Rover 12

Yes, each side has four countersunk set screws with nuts on inside, as shown in picture you posted. You will have to remove or push aside the tape to get to the heads and take screws out. Two screws and nuts near hinge but you already have those off. Shell should lift off over filler.
