Re: New '47 P2 Owner

Hi Mike, To get at the clock and remove it, first disconnect the battery (as your cars clock should be electric. (Pre-war cars had wind up clocks). Then raise left side bonnet. On the top of the bulkhead next to the Rover Vehicle plate there should be a large cover plate approx 4" x 6" held in by 4 ...

Re: Asbestos in doors -advice needed

When dealing with blue asbestos, best to use gloves and face mask and wet the area down with water. Work in a well ventilated area, or better outside, but be careful of any asbestos dust spreading in the air. Attached is an HSE document for dealing with asbestos in motor vehicles and an article from...

Re: Wanted P2 workshop manual

There is a revised / updated copy of the P2 and the P3 Workshop Manuals now available from the RSR Website. The P2 version has approx 30% more content. New sections on Sunroof, shock absorbers, correct yield strengths of modern bolts, etc. plus much more. There should be no digital copies out there ...

Re: Smith's Hydraulic pillar Jack

Hi Rob, Sorry didn't think to take any photos as I dismantled it. The main ram/shaft body is screwed to the pump assembly.
Suggest that you unscrew it, add some WD40 at each end to soak and then try pulling or gently tapping the end of the ram.

Smith's Hydraulic pillar Jack

Does anyone have any information on Smith's Hydraulic Jack suitable for P2 chassis jacking system. http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/Smiths%20Jacks/Smihs%20Hydraulic%20Post.JPG I've just bought one of these jacks at the National Rally @ Burton on Trent. I had already got the jack handle in the boot of th...

Re: water pump rebuild.

If the Luvax is still fitted and working then I would reconnect it. Albeit if you have fitted sealed
bearings then the oil /grease will have a job to enter the bearings.

Re: water pump rebuild.

Hi Vince, I replaced the bearings on my 1939/14 last year. Once you've dismantled it and got the old bearing out, you can take the bearing part nos. off the race and then order them from a local Bearing Factor. Or you can get the part number from the workshop manual. I didn't need to replace the sea...

Re: IOE Starter Motor Bendix Issues

I've just had to replace the coupling drive on my Rover 14, as the inner tube had broke free from the rubber. I got a genuine Lucas replacement part off Ebay for £35 inc postage. John Craddock @ Cannock still stock them, but charge £53 + vat , typical Land Rover Dealer ! Have now fitted it on the st...

Re: Rover Car Rally ...

The Rover Rally @ Quainton Railway Centre is organised by the Rover P4 Drivers Guild, I think it is the longest running Rover Rally in the Country. Obviously there will be a lot of P4's there, but normally you see a full cross section of Rover models attending. Go on the P4DG Website for full detail...
