Re: Rover 16 Girling brakes

Philip, I should check that the Front brake expander housing has some free movement. The securing nuts for the housing should nip the spring washers, rather than be torqued down. so the expander housing can float in the slots. It would also be worth while checking that the expanders move (and can be...

Re: Missing owner of a P4

There is a record of this vehicle at DVLA, (see http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk" target="_blank) so maybe the best method would be to try to contact the owner through DVLA?

Re: rover p2 query

I chickened out of replacing a rotten '39 16 saloon body tub although I had just acquired a decent 46/47 12 saloon. They can probably be made to fit, but as has been mentioned, the 4 pot cars are shorter. Of the 8 body to chassis mounting points -(2 in the boot floor, Front and rear of chassis each ...

Re: Rover 75 front ashtray

Richard, I sent this query (off forum) to Mike McCabe who asked that I post this reply. "Have set out the instructions for easy removal of the ashtray below. No need for the whole console to come out. Would you post them on my behalf? Also if I can get the forum url from you, I'll visit the thread a...

Re: Spanner size for spark plugs on 416?

I found a length of rubber tube very useful. Once the plug is loose, you can push this over the spark plug insulator and lift the plug out. IT can also be used to place the new plugs in place and start the thread. Then you can use the plug spanner to tighten the new plugs hope this helps Mike Maher

Re: Rover steering wheel???

Hello Hans, I'm not sure but the steering wheel certainly could originate from a Rover, As regards cracking in the plastic cover, there are firms in the UK who sell an epoxy resin that many people use to repair cracks. I have a kit to deal with the cracking on the Bluemels Wheel in my Kitcher, but h...

Re: Is this car still around?

According to Glass's index of registration numbers, CMJ was a Bedfordshire series issued from April to July 1939, so yes a pre-war Sports Saloon although given Rover's habit of using up what was in the parts bin, I'm not sure that the apparent lack of vents in the bonnet side is that significant giv...

Afternoon all!

Hi I'm Mike Maher (RSR Chairman) and I have a Kitcher special built on a 1946 10 chassis - rather like the one on ebay at present, similar carburation but my carb is from a Morris 1100/1300 apparently. Its a pity about the number on the ebay car (JD6900) having gone. I also own a 1947 16 Sports salo...
