Re: clutch judder

The clutch linkage is OK, I checked it The rear mount might be the culprit , it felt a bit soft but having never seen a new one I don't know , It isnt a soggy mess though. I will get a new one and have it installed. Again the transmission support rubbers are OK but one day will need new ones. Thanks

clutch judder

On my P4 75 (1957), there is a bit of judder when taking off. By taking great care I can avoid it. The front engine mounts look OK. I have not yet looked at the rear one or the midway propshafy holder bush , can the latter cause judder if worn?

Re: freewheel P4 75

well, it is a weird feeling and like nothing ever I experienced before, it will take some getting used to. The brakes get a real workout and round here , it is all hills.

Re: freewheel P4 75

I have fixed it, there is an adjusting nut behind the wheel mount, screw out until hardly any play. works beautifully now.

Re: freewheel P4 75

Thanks, but I still can't get it to work. I will try to crawl under and look at the cable.

spin-on conversions

are these recommended? which is the best one on the market? my car is a 1957 75. looks like a good idea, I am getting too old to crawl about with a paper filter and all the oily mess that goes with it. Last time I had one was on a Jag XJ6 , and I put it back wrong.

Re: freewheel P4 75

thanks, the previous owner never used it. Do you engage stationary or when moving? I see the point about brakes, engine braking could be really useful in mountainous Wales.

freewheel P4 75

I have a 1957 75 , and I don't think the free wheel works. The wheel turns ok, but I don't even know what to expect. Is there a cable that operates it and can it be seen underneath? is it worth even using?
