I've got the clock out of mine at the moment. It was losing about 10 minutes an hour even when it was set on it's highest speed. I'm giving the mechanism a good clean which may or may not fix the problem. I shall also repaint the brass bezel as the black is flaking off in places.

The chap rebuilding my 1939 14s head says he thinks they didn't valve stem seals fitted. Is he right?

Excuse my ignorance but I'm a bit confused. What is the max power output of my 1939 14 (1901cc)? Is it only 14.9? Wikipedia says the earlier model (1577cc) was 54bhp. What power did Rover claim?
