Re: P2 engine and chassis numbers
Thanks Mike that's all good stuff. The V5 list the engine number and chassis number as 921646. But the engine in the car is numbered 921885.

P2 engine and chassis numbers
According to the V5 my P2 '14' was registered in November 1938. However the chassis number and engine number start with a 9 which I'm told means the car is a '39. Is this true? Also should the two numbers be the same? If they are different does that mean the engine has been replaced? Thanks.

Re: Over heating P2
Sound advice DH. Trouble is I have limited funds so I have to gamble and give it a-go. While I appreciate I'm asking for trouble I do like a challenge!

Re: Over heating P2
Thanks for the advice chaps. Luli, those pictures are very helpful, thanks. I must admit I'm a bit nervous. I'm not brilliant with spanners and I've never tackled anything like this before. Wish me luck.

Re: Over heating P2
Is there any specific order for the removal of the nuts/bolts when taking the head off? Note to self: get a workshop manual.

Re: Over heating P2
My 9 year old suggested Coke too! I've had my radiator flow tested and it's OK. I've cleaned the pump. Next I shall remove the head and have a go at the waterways in there.

Re: Over heating P2
I've cleaned the pump up as best I can and the rad looks OK (to me). Is there anything I can put into the engines waterways to dissolve the crud. Some kind of acid perhaps? I've read vinegar might do the trick or something called CLR. Any thoughts?
