Pedal gaiters

I have now fitted new rubber pedal gaiters with felt inserts to the clutch and brake pedal shafts of my P2 DHC. I would like to fit similar on the accelerator pedal (different size hole etc) but Mike Couldry tells me there was never a gaiter made for the accelerator shaft. Is there something out the...

Re: P2 Differential noise

Thanks Jeff, that is very reassuring. I did toy with the idea of upping the diff ratio (currently 4.7) as there was a tempting choice of exchange units available but in the end there was little wrong with my original apart from bearings (and I am not sure Ashtons wanted to take my 1947 unit as the c...

P2 Differential noise

In December I had my P2 differential rebuilt by a Land Rover specialist and refitted by the local Land Rover garage. I drove her home only a few miles and put her up on axle stands for the rest of the winter. When I run the engine up to temperature in situ I usually put the engine gently through all...

P2 Boot floor cover flap

Can anyone enlighten me as to the original intended purpose and function of the flap between the boot lid and the locker floor on my'39 14 DHC, assuming it is original fitting? (Not sure if contenporary saloons have the same arrangement or not, I only have one photo inside a saloon boot and that is ...

Re: Over heating P2

I too have a number of Rover P2 service bulletins mainly photocopied or duplicated but Luli's post made me wonder whether I should be sharing them with the club- I had assumed that these were widely copied and used as the basis of the workshop manual. Mine may indeed have come from the club original...

Re: P2 compression

Thanks for your reference Luli. I have located the blanked off vacuum connection port on the inlet manifold - not shown on the parts list drawing (I have no lube system remaining). Amazing that I had not recognised it before. I tested the compression again with the vent open to check against blockag...

Re: P2 compression

I have just got back on line and thank you all for your replies. Chris C- No, the problem is not new I dont think but I have spent nearly a year getting to know this car and am only just addressing this problem. I did warm up the engine before the test and tested with the accelerator fully open but ...

P2 compression

I have been trying to identify the lack of power on my P2 16 engine - it loses power on hills- pretty tedious struggling along in third at 20 mph. As a first step I have done compression testing but cannot find anywhere what compression a healthy engine should produce. I have read that a rule of thu...

Forum discssions

I was disappointed to see that the forum admin had locked a discussion about voting methods at shows. I dont know the member who complained and dont know whether there is any substance in his complaint but surely it would be better to have an open and ocnstructive discussion on the forum (as long as...

Re: Another scary moment in a P2

Thanks for all your prompt replies and advice, you have confirmed my suspicions I think that it was not a gasket leak. I shall investigate the options including re-installing the Purolator fuel pressure regulator which I have found in the parts box- on checking the pump is rated at 2.5 to 4 PSI whic...
