My car is running fine but I just wanted to check that I have the ignition timing right. I have it set at 10 deg before TDC. Is this correct? Update. Vapour locking was not the problem. Firstly I drained the petrol tank, both the petrol and the tank appeared clean. I then removed the filter which hadn't been in place very long and compared air flow between that and a unused one. The used one was found to be more restrictive so obviously b...

A cautionary tale.
An aquaintance of mine recently had his pre 60's motorcycle stolen. He made a claim through his insurers. They will only pay out at the scrap value for his bike. The reason, he can't prove it was in a good road worthy condition because it hadn't got a MOT!!!!

Update - Positioning the SU pump on the curved bulk head on the 14 saloon was a problem so I've opted for fitting a Facet pump on the frame next to the rear spring hanger. I've taken the innards out of the mechanical pump, put a blanking plate on the engine block and refit the pump and piped the fue...

SU AUA25 fuel pump location
I'm about to fit a SU AUA25 electric pump (pulls fuel rather than shoves it) to my 1936 14hp. My mechanical pump isn't delivering enough fuel to the carb. Does anyone know if I can leave the mechanical pump in line and working or is it best to take it off and replace it with a blanking plate. If any...
