Don't use heavy gear oil for the gearbox.
Rover recommended to use SAE 40 engine oil for the gearbox, if you use heavy gear oil, that will lead to difficult gear shifting.

Re: Door hinges
Hi Mark, The play in the door hinges is caused by worn "acorns" which are small acorn shaped items between the top and bottom hinges. There are various shaped acorns, some are curved top & bottom and some are curved at one end and tapered at the other end. Normally the pin (bolt) does not wear. You ...

Re: New Member - P3 Clock
In order to remove the clock, first lift the LHS bonnet, on the bulkhead is a small hatch cover,
remove the cover and you can get into the back of the dashboard. Loosen the mounting clamp
and the clock should come out of front of the dash. Remove the 2 x wires (electric clock).
Hope that helps.

Re: P3 75 Wiring Loom
There is a suggest way and wiring diagram of how to fit Indicators to P2/3 in the new RSR Workshop Manual, think it is also in the previous version of the manual. I changed the loom on my 1939 P2 a couple of years ago, Autosparks are good, everything fitted very well. I started at the rear of the ca...

Re: Inefficient P3 brakes.
When I had a 1949 P3 / 75, I had no problem in locking the brakes up on an emergency stop. It used to pull 60%+ on the Tapley Brake Test Meter, before they scrapped MOT's. As Mike M. says, you need to make sure all the brake rods to the rear axle are adjusted correctly and the sliding blocks are fre...

Re: Returning to Forum
Not advisable to run engine with thermostat removed, as the "stat" is a By-pass type and the cooling system will not run correctly with it removed. By-pass thermostats are readily available from good car accessory shops or even on Ebay or try Meteor Spares in Nottingham. They have 2 x circular plate...
