Re: Len Cottam

Ah, best left alone as you first thought. Long way to travel as you say only to be disappointed. I think the one you showed me on ebay is probably a more honest car but it really depends which versions you prefer - I always liked the pre-war cars with the headlamps mounted on the crossbars rather th...

Re: Len Cottam

Hopefully when this covidvirus situation eases there will be more for you to check out and will be able to sell yours also - I'm sure the market is almost halted at present. I've been wishing I still had something to work on while this is going on. I'm fed up just polishing my everyday car!

Re: Len Cottam

I did the same when buying a P4 (105). It was full of filler that was hiding holes bunged up with newspaper - the stupid thing was the newspaper was a local from the area the chap lived who I bought it from so I new it must have been him that did it! - still, we live and learn as they say! It's a un...

Re: Len Cottam

Hi Len, Yes, I see what you mean about the cracking particularly on the roof where you wouldn't expect stress from flexing etc. The paintwork is quite shiney I wonder if it has had a blow over to smarten it up - but not prepared beforehand very well hence some cracking. It also kooks like the roof l...

Re: Len Cottam

Dear Len, I certainly used staples to attach my roof lining - it made it easier to stretch the material taut with one hand and staple gun in the other. I think perhaps originally they may have been tacked in place but staples seemed easier! I took a quick look at the P2 you mentioned at Garstang but...

Re: Len Cottam

Dear Len, Just looked at the Rover on ebay and it looks a nice project. Looking at the photos of the roof, the wooden struts are in place and if it is the same as a 10 coupe I restored, the lining tacks straight on to these. I don't believe any kit is available. What I did was buy the material - I u...

Re: Another I've just bought one

Congratulations on your purchase! That's quite a find with a mileage as low as that. I owned a 2.5 V6 Contemporary SE auto a few years back. This had the Hi line set up which included Radio / cassette /CD multichanger/ Television and Sat nav. with Bose speakers throughout. As you say the ride is exc...

Re: P4 carpets

Hi Richard,
I have not bought carpets for a P4 from Wadhams but I had a set of carpets from them for my P5 when I owned it and was very pleased with the fit and quality. When I had a P4 I purchased from Ray Weekley but I believe he no longer trades unfortunately.
Hope this helps

Re: 1935 12 door frames

Hi Kev, It's been a while since I had my prewar Rover but perhaps it was holding interior edge piping to finish the edge between the wood and the trim? hope this helps
