You are correct. I measured the width wrong. It is actually 17.4cm. You mention a 185R15, to get the same diameter the complete equivalence would be 185/70R*15.

Thank you Phil and 47P2, I will look into your sizes and radials. A width of 185 seems a little large to me, I think the original with was about 131!. Of course it all depends on the profile height. I found that modern 160/80R15 gives about the same diametre as the original.
