Rover 12 tourer ~58 (the green one)
This car continues to amaze, Starts on the button in the coldest weather and reveal strange modifications! There was a what appeared to be a 1" dia bulb sticking out of a nicely made hole in the dash, Grovelling around through the access hatch I found it was about 4" long with a couple of shielded c...

12hp Tourer #110 (the blue one)
Well the new electronic regulator seems to have restored charge to the battery! Easy to fit & uses my old cover, so looks right. I took the opportunity to restore the fuses to more realistic levels (NOT 50 amps on everything!) I'll give it a good run next week to see if my coil overheating/condenser...

Re: Engine Mounting replacement 12 tourer
I think we did it by lifting the engine on the sump ( suitably loadspread) certainly no wings or wheels were touched. The guide on the crossmember is a **d to adjust . The handle on my other tourer also doesn’t line up so I may have to change the mounting on that next

Re: Hand tools P2 etc
Following up on my query about P2 jacks. Looking through old posts it may be that the post war 10hp cars had the hexnut type (operated by the wheelbrace?)and the bigger cars the wind up side handle type. Now where was the Jack, wheelbrace and tyre pump and starting handle stored in the tourer? The o...

Re: Recent travels
Dex 1961. I had a spare base (without condenser) but had a spare loose condenser with a fixing tag that fitted under one of the base plate mounting bolts so did not have to attempt to solder it in place. See comments about fitting condensers even outside the distributor body…it seems almost anything...

Re: P2 Tourer 1947 Seat removal
Carpets in, look really good, in particular the hand brake and gear lever gaiters really sets them off. Seats fitted back on to the runners reasonably easily, a matter of attempting to line them up! Now remaking the boot toolbox and the lid for the side screen compartment (quite a complicated set up...

Re: Help Bodyshop needed
The diagonal strip is what pulls the bottom front part of the door in, so that there is no gap (often a problem on suicide doors). It can be tightened to pull the door in by moving the screws, or as I did on one car, by making the strip into a pair of brackets and joining them with a short length of...

Re: Mystery straps
I took the front seats apart a bit over the weekend. A bit of woodworm debris in the bottom ply section of the seat pans (that the runners are bolted to) was treated and reinforced with some of the left over ply from the door cards! The sear runners were taken off and cleaned up and greased before r...
