Re: 12hp Tourer #110 (the blue one)
Quick update. I replaced the distributor plate with the one fitted to the original distributor (that I replaced with the Lucas B90 unused one and that seemed to cause the condenser/coil problem) Guess what… immediately started and has worked ever since…touch wood no coil overheating 😃 I will measure...

Re: 1947 14 P2 Tyres and brakes question
I disregarded the Coker tyres on the grounds of cost and availability. I had forgotten about them!

Re: Engine / gearbox swop
Oh Dear...no simple solution...my late Father in Law had a series of P4's (he was a GP!) and his preferred method of driving was to go from first to top almost as soon as it was on the move....sorry , not very helpful! You might give Whitehouse Autos a call(Selly Oak in Birmingham) they have been ar...

Re: 1947 14 P2 Tyres and brakes question
You may find it difficult to source modern Radials...the profile (height) can be a challenge! I mistakenly bought what turned out to be emergency spare tyres! The wheel dia & ratio were ok, but of course they were completely useless! Speed restricted and awful tread pattern! Don't go there! Fortunat...

Re: 12hp Tourer #110 (the blue one)
The saga continues. The electronic kit is fitted to the distributor & now the starter is playing up! (See new post). Try it on the handle to check for a spark... Although new engine mounts were fitted last year & the Starting handle fitted...it now will not engage sufficiently into the crank dog! So...

Starter Motor
I have one that is playing up (not engaging) & it appears that the "clutch" (pinion & sleeve 255672 / sleeve & rubber 290081 may be the culprits. It whirrs strongly & tries to engage, but mostly doesn't! I have the starter off, but have not stripped it, The motor is a later (1950) one...possibly a L...

Re: External oil filter
So…. Does this kit fit an OHV P2 engine? Or just the new generation overhead inlet side exhaust?
Removal of the Luvax automatic lubrication may be a red herring as that only lubricates the chassis and has nothing to do with the engine apart from using manifold pressure/vacuum as it’s power source…
