So…. Does this kit fit an OHV P2 engine? Or just the new generation overhead inlet side exhaust?
Removal of the Luvax automatic lubrication may be a red herring as that only lubricates the chassis and has nothing to do with the engine apart from using manifold pressure/vacuum as it’s power source…

I had mine rebuilt by an Aston spccialist who did a good job…but the price was significantly more than your replacement solenoid!

Was the electric pump not specified for export P2’s? My tourer was destined for export, but sold to UK market & has one on the scuttle with a manifold heat shield. Failure at first attempt! No spark. Now the weather is a bit cooler I feel more inclined to try again! Connected up as per instructions...I had to lengthen the wires from the unit on the distributor to reach the coil,,, A complication is that I have a "security" switch wired to the coil that allows ...

Another thought
Reading the post from Luli about plugs… I have a set ready to fit, but will eliminate one thing at a time!
I will clean the current (quite new) ones!

Im looking at the cars later this week when back from Holland with the Magnette
I have an electronic ignition kit ready to fit
The fuel is pretty well fresh
