Re: Vulcanised rubber gearbox / freewheel cover .. rivets along the bottom of each side

Hi Ian, again! Yes, I am sure the rubber gearbox cover you have is non Rover maybe for an Austin or Morris 1930's model where replicas have been made for a long number of years and possibly available before Mike Couldry marketed his. Just an idea though. Meteor Spares ( M.c) have the correct rubber ...

Re: Vulcanised rubber gearbox / freewheel cover .. rivets along the bottom of each side

Hi Ian, Re your query on your gearbox rubber cover -1936 12hp. My experience is that the rubber gearbox cover is screwed to the wooden floor using wood screws (round or pan head slotted) with large penny washers located over the large diameter moulded holes in the bottom flange of the cover. Then th...

37 12 RESTORATION

Hi Tony, A couple of points that may help with your restoration. Side lights on front wings. These should be positoned on the centre of the crease of the wing. The front of the side light should be in line with the back of the shell of the headlamp looking across the car. The side lights come with a...

Re: 37 P2 Restoration Progress

Hi Tony, Re your points on the 37 12 saloon. The side lights should be fitted onto the centre line crease on top of the wings with front of light just behind line looking at right angles to the back of headlamp shell. John Burnett and I have discovered that on his 1939 14 dhc, restorer had fitted th...

12 Tourer on T.V

Seeing Tony G observations on the recent broadcast of the new series of "All Creatures Great and Small" inspired me to add a few bits of info on the background to this. In July 2019 I was contacted by an agency who provides period cars for TV and film work, asking If I knew of any 1934 to 36 Rover 1...

Re: 37 P2 Restoration Progress

Hi Tony, Your 37 12 looks as though it is going to be very smart when finished. Re your couple of queries re wing piping etc and can suggest the following which may or may not be new to you. For the P2's 1937 to 47 piping flange is between the body and scuttle-where the slotted holes are to attach r...

Re: Freewheel cable etc

Hello Robb, I have this situation sometimes of the engine cutting out on my 1940 14 dhc, when freewheeling. I press starter when still freewheeling then press gas pedal and pull out hand throttle slightly to increase idle speed, so it does not happen again. Cutting out when freewheeling down to engi...
